Haliplex and Trisilco Folec Partner in ASEAN to Address Carrier Market

Haliplex Pty Ltd, a leading manufacturer of innovative network edge access products, will partner with telecommunications project management contractor, Trisilco Folec Sdn Bhd, in a relationship that will span the ASEAN region.

Together, the companies will provide comprehensive optical access solutions to both mobile and fixed line service providers.

Haliplex designs and manufactures next generation edge access solutions for private fibre, fixed wireless, and service provider networks. A full turnkey and value added systems integrator, Trisilco Folec is part of the Trisilco Group that provides engineering and technical support services to associates throughout the Asia Pacific region.  The company has extensive Asia Pacific coverage, including a Support and Techical Centre in KL, a Repair and Maintenance facility for high-level data equipment.

“Presently, there are enormous opportunities for access solutions in the microwave market,” Vice said President of the Sales and Marketing Division at Trisilco Folec, Mr Dick Koh. “Owing to their high degree of flexibility and modularity, Haliplex access solutions provide the most seamless integration into microwave backhaul infrastructure to enable Folec to build out existing mobile and next generation networks.”

The signing of the partnership follows on from the recent opening of Haliplex’s South East Asia Regional Sales Headquarters in Malaysia. Speaking on behalf of Haliplex, ASEAN Director, Mr Amir Azahar, said: “Folec has been a major telecommunications market player in the region for many years which means they have extensive experience providing high level sales and support services to tier one carriers in ASEAN, particularly mobile and 3G networks.”

“To have a partnership with system integrator that has such extensive geographic coverage, familiarity with core infrastructure requirements of major networks and solid relationships with major telecommunications equipment manufacturers is a major asset to a company like Haliplex,” commented Azahar.

According to telecommunications industry analyst, RHK, the market for optical networks is most promising for the Asia Pacific region, which, if it reaches a predicted USD$6.5 billion in 2006, will represent 39 percent of the global total.

Haliplex technology combines add-drop multiplexing, cross connect switching, channel bank, CSU/DSU, and native Ethernet into 16-slot, 1 RU modular products that can be deployed as part of an existing or entirely new SONET/SDH or PDH transmission system. In managing and supporting fewer network devices, operators lower both the capital and operational costs of establishing and running telecommunications networks as they have the capacity to deploy traditional or next generation services, such as Ethernet, while extending infrastructure lifecycle and simplifying administration. 

Haliplex customers in Asia Pacific include Malaysia’s largest power company, Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), the Petronas-owned, Petro Fibre Networks (PFN) and Australian service provider, Netspace.
